My name is Ms. LaPortia Pitts. I grew up in the small town of Swainsboro , Georgia . In 2006, I graduated from Emanuel County Institute. After completing high school, I attended East Georgia College (EGC) where I graduated with my Associates Degree in 2007. Upon graduating from EGC, I transferred to Georgia Southern University where I graduated in 2009 with my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2010, I moved to Hinesville , Georgia where I began teaching at Coastal Academy GNETS. I taught in a self-contained autism classroom for 2 years. After which, I transferred to Taylors Creek Elementary school where I taught 2nd grade for 4 years. In 2013, I became a Gifted Certified teacher. Recently, I graduated from Georgia Southern with Masters in Early Childhood Education. I love teaching and learning. I look forward to teaching everyday. Now I'm back in Emanuel County and teaching 4th Grade at Swainsboro Elementary School. Going into my 7th year of teaching and I'm loving it! :)
My Style of Teaching:
Engaging! Hands-On! Rigor!
Students learn best when they are engaged in learning. I do my very best in making my classroom lessons engaging, hands-on, and rigorous where they challenge each student at their readiness level.
My Favorite Things to Do:
I love to READ! Give me a book and you've won me over. I love spending time with friends and family. I adore spending time in Statesboro (Georgia Southern fan #HailSouthern). And I LOVE LOVE making things for my class! Give me a Pinterest project and I'm sold!
